Air Sampling Smoke Detection and Fire Detection System
1Air Sampling Smoke Detection
Smoke is detected at the fire's incipient stage. A fire in its earliest stage produces smoke undetectable by human senses, but a VESDA air sampling smoke detector provides early warning of the condition.

2Very Early Warning Notification
A pre-warning signal is sent from the VESDA unit to the fire panel as a supervisory condition to notify personnel of an initial indication of invisible smoke.

3First Warning Signal and Alarm
As visible smoke builds, the "Fire 1" warning level is hit and the VESDA unit sends an alarm input to the fire panel, setting off the building fire alarm.

4Spot Smoke Detection
The system may be configured with a second type of detection, such as spot smoke detectors designed to detect smoke from a larger fire, sending a second confirming alarm input to the panel, confirming the need for suppression release.

5Countdown Begins To System Release
With confirmation of a fire, a new alarm sounds indicating the suppression system will release in 30 seconds. A system may also be deployed by way of a manual release station.

6HVAC Shut Down
The suppression system shuts down the power to the room's equipment, the HVAC units close dampers, and the room is prepared for discharge of the system.

7Suppression System Discharge
A third alarm sounds as the suppression system discharges, warning of release inside the room.
