We Have Much To Be Grateful For

A message from Clark Orr.

I hope you had a great weekend and your week is off to a good start. It is hard for me to believe that the holidays are nearly upon us and 2021 is almost over. My kids are counting down the days to the Thanksgiving break and of course, Santa’s arrival!

This will be a brief message today. First, I want to thank the members of the Executive Leadership Team who take time to write pieces for the ORRacle each week. I reread Bruce’s message from last week and I always enjoy the stories and analogies he uses. It is very important that we do what we can to keep everyone in our company aligned and informed about what is going on and I think the ORRacle helps in that effort. The muscle behind the ORRacle is Marty Nichter, and I also want to recognize her for her talent and efforts to make our communications as effective as possible.

I also want to recognize Jim Herr for his continued dedication in helping our company navigate the macro issues such as vaccine mandates. Jim sent me an email over the weekend about the Fifth Circuit Court’s stay of OSHA’s emergency temporary standard (ETS). As we have communicated before, the vaccine mandate has put our company and thousands of other U.S. companies in a very difficult spot. The work by the Fifth Circuit to block the mandate is a step in the right direction but according to Jim, there is still a long way to go before this issue is behind us. We will keep you posted as the situation continues to develop.

As a company, we have so much to be grateful for. As Bruce elegantly summarized in last week’s ORRacle, our company and our associates have been challenged in various ways over the past year. While not easy, we have risen to the challenges and we have prevailed. FY2021 was record revenue for both OPS and ILC, and OPS is starting 2022 with a record backlog. I’m sure you have heard the saying, “if it doesn’t kill you, it can only make you stronger.” As a company, we are far from dead. While the challenges we have faced have not been enjoyable in some cases, we have pulled together to get through them and I know we are stronger and smarter on the other side. Change is on the horizon with the implementation of Odoo and the PMO and with change, comes challenges. But, I am confident in our ability to embrace the necessary changes that will take the performance of our business to the next level.

My best to each of you and your family for a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. My family and I are extremely grateful to be part of such a great organization full of the best people in the fire protection and LDAR industries. My hope is for ORR to be a company that helps you to realize your full potential both as an individual and teammate. Thank you for choosing to be a part of ORR, for embodying our values, and for your dedication to our customers and company.  FY2022 is going to be an exciting year, and I’m looking forward to continued progress we are making as a company.

Thank you,
