Ken Prophater to Retire After 26 Years with ORR

Ken Prophater is retiring at the end of 2021 after a 26 year career with ORR Protection. Ken is a senior designer in the Design department. He was hired by Mike Casper and the late Brian Fabel in May 1995. Ken still remembers discussing boxing during his interview with Mike as they were both fans at that time.

Ken’s background in industrial controls and fire protection systems has benefited ORR for many years over many projects. His strong knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems has yielded many solutions for our customers that resulted from him “thinking out of the box.” He was one of the first designers to tackle water mist systems at ORR and has always been known for his knowledge of dry chemical and carbon dioxide systems.

In my time with ORR I have seen Ken rise to the occasion many times and put in extra hours to meet deadlines either by working late or over the weekends. We appreciate his dedication to our customers. Ken has always been able to be given a design task and “just figure it out.”

In retirement, Ken will be spending time with his three children and seven grandchildren, doing home-improvement projects, and picking up hobbies including model making which he’s enjoyed in the past. Ken and his wife Robyn will continue to live in Louisville.

Ken’s last day is December 31, 2021. Please take some time to congratulate Ken in the coming weeks on his retirement!
