Although data centers are getting smaller, their contents
are more sophisticated, increasingly expensive and absolutely
critical to the entire operation of a corporation. Therefore,
fire protection has never been more essential.
A typical data center is an enclosed area, often with a subfloor
underneath and high-tech air handling systems throughout. Computers
and other electronic equipment are particularly susceptible to fire
damage and the accompanying heat, steam and combustion products. Elevated
temperatures may even damage equipment and data.
